This is the story, My pet iguana whom I've had for a year was on my window sill inside my house looking out the window as usual. These contractors have been working on the building next door and I guess one and I know which one decided to put 2 holes in my screen, lift the screen, put his hands in my home and steal him. I had 3 witnesses as to this happening, of course they came forward after the fact rather than stop it. I called the police and they refused to take a report or do anything about it. This is not a small police agency, I expected something better than that. Isn't this a crime or is this just my imagination that a crime has taken place?

I want to have a plumber install a utility tub in the basement of my home, next to the clothes washer. There is already a water line and drain there that could be tapped into. I had a company do an estimate today and they said it will cost $1185! I'm not a plumber, but that seems like WAY too much! That price does include parts, but the utility tub costs $149 and the faucet costs $89! The plumber planned to tap into the existing water and drain pipes that are already there for the washing machine. What would be a fair price for this service? Should my Mother tell my 40 year old brother his dad is not who he thinks?

My mother told me two weeks ago that my younger brother who is now 40 years old is not my dad's son. I've suspected this over the years, purely by looks. This makes no difference to me at all, he's my brother and that's that. My mum now constantly talks of a huge guilt trip regarding my brother (who has not been told anything) and his biological father who was denied any contact. My own father had brought myself and my two brothers up equally and lovingly. The story goes my mum had an affair about 42 years ago. She became pregnant, my dad found out and she was due to start a new life with her new man and my then baby brother with a view to myself and my older brother joining her once they had found a place to live. My mum stayed at her father's house for about 8 weeks back in 1970 - I remember this clearly - I was 7 at the time and stayed with my dad and my brother in the famly home. A long story short my mum and my baby brother came back home and life carried on as if nothing happened. We children had no idea of the cirstances. My mum says it broke her heart but she had to choose between a new life with her new man and my little brother or come back home for fear of losing myself and my older brother. Finances were a big consideration also. Her man had just lost his job. Consequently she wrote him a letter explaining and never heard from him again. Many years on she phoned him and he was angry with her and said he had waited 10 years for her to get in touch. Apparently he married some years later and settled down and had children with his new wife. Question/Advice please: Does she tell my brother the truth after 40 years - we don't know if he has any clue. Should we try and contact his bio father - I don't want to upset his life and family. I don't want to be disloyal to my dad. My mum is crying out for help for me to locate the man from the past to check that he would want anything to do with my brother before we disclose anything. He will be early 70's now, if he is indeed still alive. My older brother says people will get hurt and let sleeping dogs lie. Another half of me thinks my younger brother should know the truth about his roots but at what cost. Thank you anyone for any input x

Yes, unfortunately, many people seem to labor under the conviction that there is one set of rules for them and another completely different set of rules for everyone else. Usually it's the same people who preach about equality for everyone and acceptance and respect for all beliefs and lifestyles, but that's only as long as those views coincide with their own. They champion over OUR rights to free speech AS LONG as what you have to say agrees with THEIR viewpoint, but if you take a different stand, then they point the finger and paint you some sort of fanatic. What can I say? People don't want to see you can't have it both ways, wanting fairness and democracy only when it's to their advantage and not when it isn't.

Hello, let me start by saying I was raised as a Christian. But as I grew I became apart from God word and laws. Then at the age 21 I saw that I was sinning. So I asked God for forgiveness and am trying to follow his law. I pray at night for grace and I read the bible. But everyday I pray at night I feel good. But when I wake up the next morning I feel worried, like something is bothering me, or like God is trying to tell me something. I live with my mom I have my own room with my hubby. My mom does believe in God but she is a sinner. I am not to judge but as I read the Bible I've seen my mom is breaking almost every law we shouldn't break. She has idols all around the house. She praises and prays to the virgin marry. She steals, she judges people, she is unkind when she speaks of others. She has hate for many people. She loves money. And shes a lier. I feel at good sometimes in my room but sometimes it gets to me hard. What is it that is bothering me? Why am I always feeling weird when i have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior and believe he did die for our sins and resurrected on the third day. Why am I feeling like this?

Ok i was a very strong christian during 8th-early 9th grade as well as being social, also i had good grades. But i remember last year, a pastor prophesied about me having very tough times in the future and i have to be strong.During my late 9th to 10th grade the thing was that my dad died even though i barely knew him(because he was divorced for a reason),my friends started moving,i hated ppl in my school and started skipping. Overall i skipped 20 days in 1 marking period. My grades have been plunging and I didn't join any sports team this year.I've began to somewhat begun to be neutral with god(i thought i was fine if god wasn't in my life) or a phase of atheist.Instead of you bickering to stay faithful or pray It's not easy as you can think, of course i tried but I've became depressed and I'm really anti-social(i pray 3 times a day but its nothing that important i just thank him for the food,sleep,etc) Religion is not a simple game where you just pray and everything will be fine, i just need something to pick up me. We took in a cat today, we brought him home from a little old lady that could not care for them anymore. I'm somewhat the same way, I worry about small things and tend to stress a lot. I also go through having the huge breakdown where I just cry the whole night & get overly upset and then the next morning I brush it off like nothing happened. I do not think nothing is wrong with me I think I might just have uncontrollable emotions. Sometime I think it also could do with my need of that certain reurance in life I need sometimes due to the fact when I was a child I had and still sometimes have problems with my self confidence.

The cles and clubs looks very nice but the SAT score could get up a bit and the GPA if you can. I took all honors freshmen year, ap chem sophmore, everything else honor, junior i had ap english, bio, and cal. senoir i had ap stat hist, gov and english. GPA was 3.9 for freshmen(lazy), 3.9 sopre and 4.0 for junior and senior. I had SAT of 2200, wasn't bad but shouldn't have gotten full. I did 4 year football and track, both varsity since junior year. As for clubs uhh i partially joined because the meeting time overlapped the practice time for sport. I did robotic, science and math. I got 3 teacher recommendation and a professor recommendation. I went to Stanford in the end. Just so you can compare and see if it'll work. I don't know too much about Virginian tech or jmu but you should get a decent idea.

Being Australian we have been inundated with the recent election in America concerning McCain and Obama. I have watched a large number of celebrities jump up and tell us who they are voting for with the vast majority supporting Obama. After Obamas win she was left to have to publicly say her choice in party was wrong. Her choice wasn't wrong if that is what she believed. It seems that when we take the political stance of the minority we are better off not verbalising our thoughts as they will be rejected and be told we have no idea what we are talking about. The Dixie Chicks a few years ago spoke their political opinion and were condemned to the point of death threats. Whether they were right or wrong is not for me to say but they should feel safe in their own country to speak their beliefs without fear of physical danger. People in this world have beliefs that are scary and frightening but without all the different thoughts and ideas we can't learn who we are and grow as a world. One day someones opinion may have just a slight bit of profound truth to it no matter how small, that it may sway anothers thoughts towards a safer and better world. Hi, I bought a toshiba laptop some one year back. It had a windows XP home edition. I was provided with a recovery cd along with it. Now yesterday my windows crashed and I was so stupid that rather than running my own recovery cd I took my laptop to a local mechanic who formatted everything and installed windows XP professional from his own CDs. He didn't even touch my CD. He made 3 partition of the hard drive(orignal laptop came with a single partition). I am telling you all this so that you may get an idea of what he did and you can answer my question. Now my question is that if I want to make my computer like it came orignal ( by running and installing everything my cd has), can I do that (means can my computer will be set with the windows and other programmes like orignally it was)or the recovery CDs which come with the orignal laptops dont have much material to fully reinstate the computer to like "JUST BOUGHT NEW" configuration from a scratch.Please help me. My wife is pregnant and we are far from ready?

My wife is 24 and I am 23 we have 2 kids a boy (3) and a girl (1 1/2). I know I have already asked about capital punishment but heard today about the above and also the thought that life imprisonment should be 15 years maximum. I believe that this is ridiculous as that means that people can go out and commit murder (which affects the family of the murdered for the rest of their lives) and walk free after just a few years to possibly commit the same crime again. After all if a persons morales allow them to take a life in the first place they stand a good chance of doing it again. The only way to stop these people is to make sentences tougher not easier, in fact I believe that the best deterrent has got to be if you kill somebody then you lose your life as well. The idea should be to frighten people so they are in fear for their lives not just think they are to be locked up for a few years and then come out again. This would then hopefully teach them to have more value on the life they are about to take.

Okay, I am sorry but this is going to be kinda long and I am tired of feeling like this. There is a girl I like a lot more than a typical crush because in December we almost went out like we were unofficial. We ended up getting into a fight and it fell apart and she went and dated someone else. She would always tell me that she loved me and once she started to date him she stopped which i figured haha. The other day she called me and wanted to hang out because her and her boyfriend got into another fight and she came over to my house, she was sad and we were just watching tv and she curled up next to me and laid her head on my lap and just watched television. She then wanted to go to a movie and i agreed to take her and the entire time she was poking me and saying smile and kept trying to get me to smile and her other friend wasn't there and she didn't do it to her. On the way back home she wanted me to drop her off at her friends apartment which i was against the idea of it. Her boyfriend was gonna be there, they argued and he was supposed to take her home but he left her in the middle of nowhere at night. She called me crying and i drove out there and got her and took her to her house. I thought nothing of it. I got a text from her saying " thanks for everything, and I just wanted to say I love you." I replied with I love you too as a joke but i meant it because i still like her. I thought that was gonna be it, but I got another text message back saying "i love you more :) ". I told her it wasn't possible because I have still had the feelings for her since the fight in December. I never told that i still had the feelings and I came up with the excuse of "im taller and bigger so that means my heart is bigger" and she replied yea yea bullshit. well, you should try to drink a lot of water but i see where you're coming from with the sweet thing! maybe try crystal light, the kind you mix into water. it doesn't have many calories and it's really sweet. i love it! also, instead of chips eat pretzels, they're less fattening. and instead of candy, maybe try granola or granola bars. they're sweet but aren't as bad for you as candy!

Question about mp3 players, could i use an mp3 with speakers to replace my old stereo system?

my baby son has all but destroyed my old phillips stereo system (bits of seashell shoved into the tape decks, cd door used to hold milk bottle etc) So i was wondering if i could replace the whole lot with a small mp3 player attached to speakers? I know you can buy canvas swings, and wooden swings, but this was a glider. Most of you will remember. It sat on a metal base, and glided back and forth rather than swing. I wondered if they are still sold? Every year, dad would get help putting it up on 'wooden horses,' to repaint it. The glider was really heavy, and he used Rustoleum paint since it sat out in the weather. There were also the metal chairs that matched the glider if you chose to buy. I would be curious to know if they are still made, and where they can be purchased. If so, I bet they aren't made as sturdy as years past.

I am now 18 years old and this has been ongoing for the past 6 years. I know that some foods cause me to break out, and whenever I drink soda I break out too, so I'm strictly on water now. I've been using a lot of different kinds of medicine to deal with it and some helped, some haven't, but now I'm just tired of it all. White lotion like CM in large to small amounts... Can you help me?

I have bipolar disease and want too know why we get such a bum wrap?

I have been on meds for 16 yrs. It took a long time to get a correct mix of meds for me, seroquel and lamictal. I knew I had a problem, but didn't know why. One day I saw Mark Harmon on tv telling that his sister Chris (whom was married to Rickey Nelson) has bipolar. He told the symptoms and I knew that was me. I told my dr's for yrs. I thought I had bipolar and was told, "That's ridiculous." Bipolar is inherited, as is arthritis, heart disease, bad cholesterol, etc. We don't just become manic or depressed because we want to. Meds and a medical professional in this field help, but can't take it away like a depression from your worldly problems, because it is a predisposed mental condition. A therapist told me don't label yourself bipolar, say, "I have bipolar." This made me feel a lot better about myself. I'm a good person and have good morals. I 'm just predisposed with a medical condition I surely didn't asked for. To me there is no normal for anyone. Every time you laugh, cry, have pain, grieve or any other feeling it changes chemicals and neurotransmitters in your brain. Have you ever thought about that? So please don't judge us so harshly, because you can't walk a mile in our shoes.You may be walking that mile and won't admit or you just don't realize you have bipolar. Check out bipolar sites.

How do you quit sugar?

After a summer of living in Canada, I stopped consuming any sources of sugar except for the rare teaspoon of raw honey. I've recently moved back to College and I find myself addicted to sugar all over again, in the forms of lots of Cherry Coke and Mcdonalds, I cook by myself, somewhat a macrobiotic diet and I make sure all my meals are really healthy, nothing refined, no additives, mostly vegetables, healthy proteins, and simple grains, and I drink lots of water all day long. But at teh end of the day, I still find myself craving foods with high amounts of refined sugar, such as the ones I mentioned above. in fact, I walk a kilometre and back just to buy them. Its been two weeks and I've already gained a lb and a half. How do I handle my cravings, and deal with the withdrawal, which btw is horrible in the mornings.

Keeping kids safe?

I have a 5 year old daughter and I don't feel comfortable letting her play alone in the back yard even though we've gone to great lengths to childproof it and have a fence. My worry is child preditors. If she was playing in the back yard, of course someone would watch her from in the house, but you hear all the time about kids getting abducted these days and the parent just turned their back for a moment. Am I the only one with these fears and is there an alternative so that my daughter can be more active? I don;t want her to sit and watch TV (or even read) all day. so i have been on the internet all day reading sbout how some spotting is normal during pregnancy however... i dont know if i am preg yet or not i think that i am but i try not to think about it so that if im not it wont be disappointment. (a little background info) my period are usually heavy i mean you know that it is a period. well my last one was 3/20 and i had 1 day of pink spottin on the 18 of april which is whn i was suppose to come on again. no period for the month of april. so no w we are in may and i am do again for a period on the 15th tomorrow. every since tuesday i have had some pinkish red spotting but not enought for pad not even when i look in the toliet when i get up only when i wipe and today i had a lil string of blood mixed with clear stuff but no cramps or nothing...im just trynna figure out what it could be...i know that is defintely not my period...im going for a blood test next week...but i was wondering if this happend to any of you ladies and were u pregnant or just having a moment. and yes i have been experioencing some symptoms...like urintaing a lot and headaches, heavy brest but not sore...if there is any insight to be shared please so share it thanks
