Can i dye my hair and get higlights.....?

i don't start skool till the 25th and this year has to be the best year of my life before my friends and i go off to high skool and we want this year to be perfect...so i want to start out with a new look....i was thinkin of dying my hair a redish brownish color with red burgundy higlights but i didn't know if i can dye my hair whille i get highlights in a different color so can i .please i need to know quick.................Thx
