I have a 6 cyl chevy engine but don't know the year can u help? ?

take the vin number off and call the local chevy dealer they can look it up and tell you the year what it came out of and the options that the vehicle it came out of had or for 15 bucks you can get a carfax and it will tell you if there have ever been any problems with the car it came out of like engine trouble
