How to remove scotch tape from a window that has been there for over 5 years.

When my parents first bought our house eight years ago, there was a paper sign on the window that was held up with scotch tape. My mom took off the sign and removed as much scotch tape as she could. Now, eight years later there are still two little pieces of tape stuck on our window. How can we get it off?!?!
