Amazing touchdown catch called back?

My team was having our 8th grade division championship football game last Saturday. The score was 45-39 with 7 seconds left. We were down, and had the ball on our 40 yard line. Our qb heaved a ball towards me, but it bounced off the pipeline (orange thing). I dove into the endzone and caught it with one hand. One ref said td, but another declined it. They came to the conclusion it wasn't a touchdown. We lost... I thought that was a legal catch and the ball wouldnt be out of bounds?
