Are Americans obsessed with food?

My husband believes we are - he is German. By the way, I am of Hispanic heritage, but a Texan girl at heart. I LOVE to cook and I always add stuff to enhance certain dishes. Based on myself and what my husband has seen on TV, he says Maaaaan Americans really love their food. What do ya'll think? I think we are but in a good way, no? I also told my hubby, we have so many countries influencing what we eat, we cannot help but falling in love with those dishes and making them our own.
